The details in Governor Beshear’s Executive Order
With the executive order passed by Governor Beshear allowing for the use of medical marijuana to treat specific needs, there are many people looking for the details on how to qualify and what they need to do in order to be able to access medical marijuana for treatment.
The executive order allows for the use of medical marijuana and Delta-8 treatment beginning January 1, 2023. But how do you get access to treatment? It’s not as simple as just running out and buying marijuana. You still need to go through the legal process for medical treatment purposes.
The governor outlined these specifications with the executive order, and here is what you need to know.
Conditions of Legal Treatment
The order specified that you must meet certain conditions in order to qualify for the use of medical marijuana in the state of Kentucky. These conditions are specific, but allow for broad treatment.
This is what the order includes.
You will be required to purchase said marijuana from a legal state within the USA and keep your receipts for proof of this.
You may only purchase or carry a maximum of 8 ounces of marijuana at any given time.
A licensed health professional must certify that you are diagnosed with an applicable medical condition. Retain this certification should the need for proof arise.
There are 21 total medical conditions originally stated in the order. The conditions are chronic and terminal ailments that are hard to treat or do not have a cure.
The governor views this executive order as simply the first step to overhauling Kentucky’s outdated laws surrounding marijuana. There are several upcoming bills that will go to vote that may make medical marijuana treatment more accessible, while still regulating Delta-8 sales.
Only time will tell what the final laws will look like, but for now anyone who meets the criteria can start getting relief from marijuana medical treatment legally. To set up an appointment, please give us a call now!
